Worsley Works N Gauge

London North Eastern Railway Class V1

Built By Gareth Collier

The body was built from the Worsley Works kit. Although a chassis is included with the kit I motorised it using the excellent Kato C11 tank loco. Wheel spacing and diameter are not exact but it’s hard to notice and, after all, N is always a compromise but most importantly the drivers aren’t equally spaced which would spoil the appearance. This is a 2-6-4 but you can play around with the rear bogie to lose a wheel but I used some spare Dapol prairie bogie wheels I had, adapting the bogies to take them. To fit over the chassis a little trial and error came into play but basically draw an outline of the chassis looking down onto it and cut this from the footplate. It is a snug fit but nevertheless it fits inside the etch. A fair bit of the front and rear cab etches need removing to fit over the chassis but, again, it is not noticeable from the outside so the look is not compromised. The various boiler fittings are from N Brass.
